This is happening now. It has to.
At first it was a vacation to just get out of town with a friend and live a little. But then, as my list of friends to take narrowed largely, I thought about the possibility of going it alone.
I mean, it has been something I have always wanted to do. Hasn’t every one? Just grabbing a backpack full of white bread and trail mix and seeing everything? And I guess I decided I wanted to do something grand for myself in that aspect.
But where in the world am I going?
I’ve wanted to go back to my old home of Nampa, Idaho for years but that was a 300 mile drive and I couldn’t find the courage for that. Then it turned into a drive all around Washington. All four corners, visiting our small wine country and maybe even Vancouver. But, oh man, what in the world was I aiming for? Certainly not rebellion. That might involve just a little too much dedication!
But after a considerable days worth of thinking, I thought of a small trip that would be short, scenic and, over all, rewarding. 12 miles around the top Northwest quadrant of Washington state, driving. Full of beautiful forests, quaint shops, and total and utter liberation.
